Here's a lousy reaction paper I wrote in thirty minutes. Rushing Anthropology paper, aye? The class watched "How Art Made the World?" last Thursday and I only knew that they did yesterday so I rushed this one-page paper.

What do you think? Crappy. I know. HAHA.

The Role of Art in the World

It's fascinating, and at the same time, amazing how much art has contributed to the perception of humans and the development of the world. Somehow, the presence of art has been influential in such ways that it has been a huge part of what we are as of now.

One of the factors that brought about the evolution of art is culture. The culture is a powerful key in expression of art. There are a lot of artists who relied on cultural beliefs in expressing what they believe in, whether it be related to politics, social sciences, religion or sciences. Of course, everything that defies the art in the pieces is the style as to the preference of the authors, that is made of, by deducting details essentially from their senses and bodies around them.

Art is not limited to sculptures nor drawings only. It can be concluded that in the case of literature, art has eventually made a hero. It also played vital role in entertainment, more specifically in music.

But how does art affect humans, or artists per se? In the clip, there is a huge conception of human's perception of art. It points out that the human body has probably been one of the most used subject in expression of art, only that, every art piece has distinct qualities that makes it different to the exact image of the human they are modeled from.

Most of the time, the tendency is to make an exaggeration of the human body, the face and other attributes of our bodies. Probably, there is really a defaulted image of perfection inside our minds that exaggerates our expression of things which translates to art pieces. For example, the Oblation was modeled from a human body, but it isn't perfectly molded as the person whom it was modeled from. Instead, its features and details were overdone to signify its symbolism in the UP community.

Likewise, we tend to bring about the concept of “perfection” even unconsciously. Our imagination might have to be accounted for that since it could be possible that in our minds we're thinking of something perfect that might not really exist or might have existed but not as perfect as we conceive it to be.

All in all, art has been a huge factor in determining the people of today. It could probably be accounted as artifacts of our cultural background or blueprints of the existing civilizations in the past. It has made the world in such a way that until now, it exists as a field that interrelates different sciences and ideologies. It has become a catalyst to the diversity and a proof of development in the world we're living. Definitely, the world we're living in can't be the same without art and its relation to us and its effects on the theories and applications we're able to make, as a product of the arts in synergy with our senses and perspective.
